Dragon’s Tweeting Gives Boost to B&B

Family-run B&B The Old Vicarage in the Lake District enjoyed a valuable marketing boost last weekend when Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis advertised the bed and breakfast on his social-networking page.

Each week, Dragon Theo runs a competition in which businesses compete for the honour of a special mention on his Twitter account, which has over 140,000 followers.

Owner Jane Smith from Lorton, Cumbria, said that they decided to enter the competition in order to widen their contacts and gain exposure.

She added, “We’re flattered that Mr Paphitis picked us and we’ve tweeted him to invite him to stay.”

Built in the early 19th century, the five-star B&B offers luxury accommodation in the Lake District along with great breakfasts and dinners. The Smith family have been running it for five years.
