English B&B twins toilet with Burundi latrine

The Kingfisher B&B in the English village of Hanley Swan has twinned one of their guestroom toilets with a latrine in Burundi, as part of a toilet-twinning scheme set up by charities Tearfund and Cord to help people living without decent sanitisation.

The B&B donated £60 to the scheme, which will provide families with their own latrine and support projects to supply clean water and improve hygiene education. In return, they receive a framed certificate with photo and GPS coordinates of their toilet’s twin.

Landlady Rev Biddi Kings says, “These days B&B guests expect their loo to be en suite – how lucky is that when for so many people any form of loo is a luxury?”

Would you spend a few pennies for a good cause to twin your loo?
