Introducing: Galway

Galway is often thought of as the most ‘Irish’ of Ireland’s cities. The cobbled streets, brightly painted pubs and scores of fish and chip shops certainly live up to the quaint, picture-postcard image of the Emerald Isle, and it’s the perfect place to purchase a Claddagh ring or an Aran sweater, but the long-standing tradition for fine food, frothy Guinness and toe-tapping music goes far deeper than being a mere tourist gimmick.

Book a Galway B&BAs the cultural centre of Ireland, Galway is the best place to experience first hand traditional Irish music, culture and cuisine in its modern interpretation. The city gets its creative atmosphere from its residents; artistic and bohemian, a quarter of the population is made up of students. A constant stream of festivals and events includes the prestigious Galway Races and the famous Galway Oyster Festival. See below for a more extensive calendar of events.

Even by Irish standards, Galway is renowned for its wet weather,  but visitors find there’s always plenty going on to distract them from the rain. As well as being a vibrant centre with a world-renowned entertainment scene, Galway provides a great base for exploring Ireland’s beautiful west coast.
