In the US last month, unsuspecting B&B guest Parvin Hajihossini got more than just bed and breakfast for her money.

Hajihossini, 53, was staying in a B&B in the Catskills Mountains in upstate New York, when her attention was caught by the resident monkey, a Capuchin named Benjamin.

Just as she approached his cage to take a photo, the monkey attacked her, taking a large bite out of her cheek which required numerous stitches in hospital.

This was not Benjamin’s first offence; 5 years ago he had similarly assaulted someone else. Following the attack on Ms. Hajihossini, health officials ordered that the monkey be destroyed and tested for rabies, but his owner, painter Allen Hirsch, failed to hand over his pet and is now refusing to reveal the animal’s whereabouts.

Hajihossini, who had to undergo a series of painful rabies injections as a precautionary measure, is now suing Hirsch, saying that she suffers from repeated nightmares and is unable to return to work.

What do you think? Should pets be allowed in B&Bs?
